Legal Support Services
We can also assist you in contacting free and confidential legal advice services with the Redfern Legal Centre: The International Student Legal Service, which is for all international students enrolled in New South Wales.
You can receive advice by appointment on a Wednesday evening, either in person, by phone, or using video link-up.
Redfern Legal Centre offers free legal advice on housing, employment, and discrimination issues.
To speak to someone using a free telephone interpreter, call the Translating and Interpreting Service on 131 450.
Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment (SASH)
At the Central Institute, we are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all students.
Sexual assault and sexual harassment are serious violations that can have a profound impact on your wellbeing. If you or someone you know is experiencing sexual assault or harassment, we encourage you to seek help.
We are here to listen, support, and guide you through your options. Support services are available whether you choose to report the incident or just need emotional support.

Health Services
You have access to a safe and healthy learning environment as one of our students, and your wellbeing is a priority while living and studying in Sydney.

Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
International students undertaking formal studies in Australia must obtain Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).
This insurance usually includes cover for:
- Some hospital treatment
- Ambulance cover
- Limited pharmaceuticals (medicines)
Your OSHC provider will have a list of recommended clinics and healthcare providers.
